New Moon in Cancer: Emotional Labor

  • Moon Sextile Saturn: “dry your eyes bb, you’re at work”

  • Everything just kinda *waves arm* generally in the sign of Cancer rn: “…but I’m baby”

This New Moon in Cancer is initiating a watershed moment in self-love and sacred responsibility in your sphere of everyday life. With a positive alignment from Saturn, this focus on creation extends to creating a version of yourself that returns you to your childhood vision of what you thought you’d be. However, with age and wisdom, you are trying on an identity that encompasses a deeper level of personal evolution than you originally thought possible.

This time often comes with a few tears, as old wounds are opened and old problems healed with the loving attention of a mother. You are being asked to step up to the plate and deal with yourself—who you are under the wave, behind closed doors, in the 4th house of inner sanctum. This time initiates you into a different vision of yourself that will require sustained effort and holy maintenance, with Saturn. You are being asked to use discipline to align yourself with a new vision of your path (New Moon), whether you like the idea or not.

To be fair, this process is actually going to feel pretty good given the astrological aspects involved. It’s kind of like once you break the seal on the emotions you’re opening up to, you’re given the freedom to finally feel all the feelings that have felt so ominous and looming. You have *permission* to deal with it because it’s already “ruined.” Of course, I don’t believe in moments or lives being ruined, but there is a feeling of freedom that comes from getting messy or stuck in the rain or in a big fight. Let’s just FEEL it since we’re already in it now and the concept of perfection is long gone.

With Saturn, it makes me think you’re just trying to get through the end of your shift so you can go curl up and cry. But like magic, the fact that you’re distracted from wallowing, distracted from the urge to hide by work and responsibility is giving you this crazy opportunity to encounter your secret super power of resiliency. You’re honoring the sacred flame that will never go out within by soldiering on even though you’d much rather be back in bed.

At the end of the “dark night” or whatever you call it, you’ll feel like this was nothing and you start to trust yourself again. You start to believe you can handle things again. That’s the makeover of this new moon: a realization that although you are vulnerable and feeling it ALL finally and with abandon, you are not going to give yourself carte blanche to indulge your moods if it’s not going to help you. You are recognizing the ways you can nurture yourself that will allow you to put your life on autopilot and set it and forget it so you can use the rest of your time creatively, instead of dealing with anxiety, guilt, or self-pity.

You are safe where you are doing the same ol’ thing…but at what cost? A ship is safe in the harbor, but that’s not what ships are for <3

xoxo,

Hayley
