Full Moon in Leo: High Drama

  • Moon Quincunx Pluto - powerful endings, conversations about shame, secrets

  • Moon Square North Node - tiny catalysts for later apocalypses, butterfly effect

Focus your energy and take no prisoners: this Full Moon is both powerful and very tender. Like Helios hitting his mark in the sky, you are being urged to focus on your priorities, the places you regularly visit that make up your daily life, and where you focus your energy. If what you’ve been doing with your life is not in alignment with your true vision of the future, you will feel the pressure to shift, change something, and focus on what is missing until you get it right. Like a child practicing a piano solo, it feels so important to get it right, even if it’s only important to you.

When we focus on the blank spaces in our life, we often feel sad and frustrated, as a matter of course. It’s important to remind you that this time is not intentionally disruptive—it’s actually clearing the way for the Right Thing™️, possibly something you forgot is sorely needed to keep your engine running. With Pluto and the nodes involved, the part of you that’s lost could feel final. With Leo, the results are (as usual) dramatic. What you say goodbye to now feels more in the flavor of Marina Abramovic’s and Ulay’s infamous farewell on the Great Wall of China: there is no looking back.

Although the Aquarian season channels a strong tendency toward emotional detachment, you are suddenly overwhelmed with the heaviness of existence at this Full Moon (and the two weeks following). No matter what sort of distance you’ve been able to maintain from the people around you lately, a crack in the veneer has allowed an authentic experience of your own human frailty in. There are no rules right now—no social mores that preclude you investigating or unveiling your feelings. Whatever tenderness comes up is sacred, honest… and probably healing. With Leo, the dramatic range is piping hot—anything from stage passion to abject sorrow.

Even though you’re riding the wave, you may be feeling oddly removed anyway, like you’re going through the motions of a wild drama. Blame Aquarius—it keeps everything on the level of friendship and fairness and loathes heavy emotion, quite in contest with the Plutonian, nodal, and solar vibes that are asking for your most Lilithian performance. That’s ok: it’s not quite the time to integrate your feelings—let them pass over/through you until the New Moon in Leo in July 2022, when whatever emotional phase you’re going through becomes finally fully integrated (coronated). Right now, there is an tendency toward unexpected moments of intimacy, rawness, and honesty that appear seemingly out of nowhere.

With this heavy fixed sign lunation in combo with Pluto, this time is an invitation to look at your habits, the stuff that makes up the little things you will do *forever* because they’re part of your identity. Hobbies, investments, writing, art. You’re feeling back to who you were as if returning from a long tour away from yourself. Without expecting it, you’re integrating a narrative you lost long ago and letting something go that has been draining you dry but keeping you numb and comfortable. Instead of being content to stay on the surface, you’re embracing the light and shade that makes the infernal drama of being human more real and significant.
