New Moon Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius: I Am Fucking Crazy, but I Am [Not] Free

Astrotoolkit™:

Sun trine Mars - forward motion with wild abandon

Sun semisextile Pluto - dusky sunlight on an abandoned greenhouse

Sun conjunct South Node - is now and ever shall be, world without end—Amen

This is about the most Scorpionic Sag moon that has ever come to pass in recent years. Not only are we very closely conjunct the South Node of past lives and karma, but *both* of Scorpio’s rulers are active—the masculine Mars and the feminine Pluto. We are getting curious about what’s behind the curtain. We are turning over a rock and finding a turgid pulse of beefy grubs.  Be careful not to draw back in disgust, because there’s something down here you’re gonna want to see.

You may be feeling a little overwhelmed or even crazy right now. Events are coming to a head and everything is flying on its dedicated trajectory in unstoppable motion. There is a lot of energy, even if it feels temporarily dormant. With the eclipse falling in Sag, you may also be starting to notice how all the pieces in your life are finally fitting together from what may have been initially terrible plot changes and non sequiturs, godwinks and blank stares. By no means is it a panacea, or even a sense of meaning, but there is a tenderness and sense of awe in watching Life itself crawl back from the bowels of Hell.

There’s something a little morbid and intense about the beauty of this solar eclipse, even as the Sun lights up your course with the ebullience of Sag energy. It’s the raw flow of energy of a river in motion. The blood red sunset on the ocean. The fizzy frisson of staring out at the pitch black woods. It feels both magical and unsafe. With Scorpio’s rulers involved and accelerating change, you may feel suddenly at a loss for words as things work themselves out without any of your intervention. You have been manifesting plenty this year and you may have felt that your prayers were not answered. You have been being tested, for some unknown purpose, but the universe is taking it from here. You are being swept away by forces that are outside your control.

I wouldn’t be surprised if some things that come up for your right now both terrify and delight you. Category 1: new beginning on something you don’t think you’re ready for. Category 2: hitting the bottom of everything and finally finding it, if not hilarious, not the end of the world. Either way, you’re starting fresh and you’ll hopefully be feeling excited about what’s to come. You’ve already done the hard work of acceptance at the Lunar Eclipse on November 30th and now you’re feeling oddly buoyant—almost like you can’t keep yourself on planet Earth. I feel happy for you—I think even if you’re sad, you feel a sense of hope or even trust that you’re going to make it. This is a time of faith—all Sag times are, but particularly Sag new moons. You have to drop the rope and let the wind carry you away. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.

I think it’s time for us to get to work, but a lot of the work has already been done by us, for us this year. Solar eclipses bring with them their own energy: like Helios, they hit each of their cosmic marks in their own sacred timing. I know some astrologers think all solar eclipses are a little cursed. I think they’re way better than lunar though. They’re categorically scarier (even physically—watch the birds get silent and the world stop if the sun is blocked), but they have the most immense energy and *none* of it is scattered. This energy is at your disposal right now, Spellkittens. You’re ready to begin again on the fertile substrate of this new moon and even wake up from any nightmares you’ve been hypnotized by in 2020. Anything feels (and maybe is) possible under the auspices of Sag, and even the planetary heavy-hitters dueling in the background (Saturn and Jupiter), take a day off from their power plays to watch the fabric of the universe knit itself together. This eclipse can be overwhelming, but it can make you believe in something.

Hayley
